Proving the Rule

Do you remember yesterday when I said one print could be a novelty and two an oversight, but three is a conscious statement?  Well, here's the outfit that proves the rule.  I ended up with two animal prints (tunic and nails), and it WAS an oversight.

This tunic is really a swimsuit coverup, but since I haven't had occasion to wear it at the beach recently (heavy-handed hint) it has entered my normal clothing rotation.  Or what passes for normal in my clothing rotation.

Woo hoo!  I actually managed to post every day this week.  I hope I managed to share something fun.

The 1-2-3

I started thinking about my sartorial belligerence a few weeks ago when I wore three lobster-themed components in one outfit.  I hit upon the idea that one piece is a novelty, two could be construed as a slip, but three is an obviously conscious decision.  Today's outfit is a decision.

My three animal prints include a leopard, a zebra, and a reptile.  I can't decide whether I prefer the look of three different animal prints or three of the same print.  I like both.  A friend commented that I look like an animal.  I had to correct him that I actually look like three animals.

 

This dress is one of my long-time favorites.  It has served me well through thick and thin (waistlines).  Would you experiment with dressing in threes?

What is the purpose of an interview?  As far as I can tell, the main purpose it to make sure a perspective employee knows how to play by the rules and would fit in well with the current team.  Most of the time when I've had an interview I've worn a suit.  I've always worn a jacket.  This outfit is a big departure from what I've worn to other interviews, but it felt perfect for the circumstances.

I interviewed for a position at a place I've already been volunteering.  It is a relaxed atmosphere, so I wanted to show that I understand the environment but still took the interview seriously.  I was going for creative, fabulous realness.  Even though I didn't wear a jacket, this silk sheath dress is not exactly casual either.

 

I love the color of the dress and how it works with my eyes, skin, and hair.  I love the jewelry.  (I'd better since I made it.)  Most importantly, I felt great and exuded confidence.  My perfect interview clothes let me focus on the interview, not the clothes.

Inorganic Bumble Bee

This outfit has the colors of a bumble bee, but the media are more geometric than organic.

I think this dress may be joining my quickly growing "swap pile."  I'm having friends over later this month to exchange unwanted clothes, and someone else may love this more than I do.
