Curls and Swirls

My hair is naturally straight- really straight.  It won't hold a curl from a curling iron for love nor money, but it will work a little texture if I let it dry in a doughnut bun.  Finally, curls!

Dress, Target; shrug, Walmart; shoes, Target; earrings, Arts in the Heart.

Once I discovered that my hair would curl somewhat if I let it dry in a bun, I actually used hair product to freeze the curls in place.  Lately I don't do anything to my hair, so product is a bit foreign.

The fierce and fabulous heels from Target required shoes of shame just in case.  As predicted, I wasn't woman enough to wear 4+ inch heels all day.

The Look

I think this is my best ever "sexy librarian" look, but you don't have to take my word for it.  Friends and coworkers stopped me all day long to tell me I look like a sexy librarian.  My response: I wish I was a librarian.

Shirt, Talbots; shrug, Target; skirt, eShakti.com; shoes, Younkers; earrings, TJ Maxx.
Pay your overdue fines!
I was initially skeptical of the fact that this set from eShakti.com was a crop top and skirt combo instead of a dress.  Now I'm a convert.  The two pieces are versatile, comfortable, and cute.  Also, pockets!

I left the tie of the shirt undone for most of the day, but I remembered how cute it looks tied when I started to take photos.  The other great part of this outfit is the hair.  It's a prim bun today, and tomorrow it will be the only way I can get a curl to sort of stay in my hair.

Red, Blue, and Birds

I've had this dress for quite a while, but it fell off of its hanger and was lost in the abyss of my closet.  I'm glad it reemerged.

Bird's eye view dress in chambray, c/o Eshakti; shrug, I don't remember; shoes, Target; earrings, Claire's; necklace, Fire Mountain Gems.

I love the retro silhouette and modern details of this dress.  The pepper necklace adds a little spice to an otherwise all-American outfit.  To quote the great Rupaul, here's the front...

And here's the back.  And here are the shoes.

Making a Spectacle

Who has two thumbs and a bitchin' new crop top/skirt combo?

This girl.

Unfortunately (or fortunately?), I don't work in the kind of profession where I can wear a crop top to work.  I had to tone it down with a basic black camisole.  The dress is eshakti.com. The shoes are from Younkers, the earrings are from Claire's, and the glasses are from Costco- but they're bit players in a show starting the top/skirt.

I can hardly wait to pair the two pieces separately and playing with them together.  Expect to see a lot more spectacles on this blog in the future.

Pick of the Litter

My hard drive is littered with outfit of the day photos that haven't been posted, and it's time to pick some.

Shrug, handmade by me; dress, eshakti.com; shoes, Payless Shoes; pearl earrings and pendant, handmade by me; thread earrings, purchased in Las Vegas.

This is the lovely corset style sheath dress from eshakti.com.

The best accessory for any outfit is happiness and happiness is a warm puppy.  While I didn't take this one home, I'm sure she will find a family to love her.
