Resume (on a Shirt)

 This is what I wore Thursday.  I had yesterday off, and I never bothered getting dressed.

You may have thought piracy was just a hobby for me, but I think I could go pro.  I found this shirt in Cozumel, and I've called it my "resume on a shirt" since then.

* Note: When I say piracy, I don't mean stealing intellectual property.  I mean high-seas shenanigans.

I didn't manage to get any full-body photos because I had bigger and better plans for Thursday evening.  We had about a dozen friends over to sample Stephen's first batch of home-brewed beer. The unanimous verdict is that it was delicious.

Now we need to decide what kind of beer we will brew next.  Stephen already has a hard lemonade fermenting, and we found that one of our friends is eager to be an assistant brew master.

Stephen's first brew was Northern Brewer's Dry Dock Paragon Apricot Blonde Pro-Series Extract Kit w/Specialty Grains.

I think I may hit up Goodwill this afternoon.  If I do I will be sure to share my finds!

I love these sandals, but they are kind of a waste to wear with jeans.  With jeans they just look like flip flops.

Lemon Drops

Photos didn't turn out very well today or yesterday, but here are the best of the worst.

I hoped that the drops of yellow spattered throughout this oufit would liven it up, but these photos show that it didn't help much.  I like it, but I don't love it.

One of the rosettes on the sandal has fallen apart.  I need to find a cobbler who can fix it.  I like these shoes enough that I'd like to keep them in rotation.  If only I had magic cobbler elves in my shoe closet...

 

 The photos from yesterday turned out even worse.  I could swear the outfit looked pretty good in person, but it is beyond blah in photos.

We're having some friends over tomorrow night to sample Stephen's first homemade beer.  I can hardly wait.  I might have to start the sampling a night early.

This One's for Me... Probably

I've been wanting to crochet something for myself for awhile.  This might be it.

I have nine motifs down 72 to go.  Eek.  Better not think about that.  The first nine worked up really quickly.  It's a very easy motif.

I've wanted to make this shawl since I saw it in the Autumn 2011 Crochet! magazine.  I'm not sure about the colors of yarn I chose.  I suppose I'll see how much I like it before I decide if I want to keep it, sell it or give it away.

Maybe I should have bitten the bullet and bought
the same yarn used in the magazine.

It is Deborah Norville Serenity Sock Yarn in Harlequin.  I really like working with this yarn.  It is 50% superwash merino wool, 25% bamboo, and 25% nylon.  It is not itchy like wool can be.  

The photo of my flowers is not quite true to color, but I don't like it as much as I like the colors in the original.  I just couldn't justify spending almost $9 per skein when I needed seven skeins.

We'll see if it grows on me as I work the next 72 motifs.

Casual Friday, Visible Monday

I'll admit it.  I wore this outfit on Friday.  I've been under the weather since last Wednesday, and I'm just now getting these photos posted.  Hopefully the lovely Patti will let it slide this time.

 

This is another outfit I'm loving on a day I'm not feeling.  I'm still feeling under the weather.  I opted for a casual Friday look with jeans.  I almost never wear jeans.  I just prefer dresses.  Stephen has commented that I mostly have two speeds of attire: dresses and sweat pants.  It's rare that an outfit like this falls somewhere in between.
