Whatever

Here is my style philosophy in a nutshell: wear whatever makes me happy, and accessorize with whatever makes me happy.

I am acutely aware that it is not about me in general, but when it comes to my clothes it isn't about anyone else.  My clothes don't need to "go together" in anyone's estimation but mine.  Sometimes I coordinate, sometimes I contrast, sometimes I just wear a bunch of things that I like all at once.

For today's outfit: Animal print consistently makes me smile.  Turquoise plus red is one of my favorite color combinations right now.  It is reflected in my jewelry, my belt and shoes, and my fingernail and toenail polish.  I could have worn this as a super-short dress, but I decided I'd be more comfortable if I followed Gracey's lead and wore my short dress as a tunic with leggings.

Animal print dress, thrifted; leggings, No Boundaries, Walmart; belt, thrifted; shoes, Merona, Target; necklace, brancelet, and earrings, handmade by me.

Two Peas Necklace.
Please excuse the cell phone picture quality.
In other news, I have made a few more pieces of jewelry lately, and these pieces are destined for sale on Chenille's So & So etsy shop.

One of my favorite pieces I've made for sale is the two peas necklace.  I am fortunate enough to have amazing friends with whom I connect on so many levels, and this necklace is inspired by them.

I'll shamelessly self promote when my items are listed on etsy, but in the meantime, check out the lovely things Chenille has listed on So & So.

Check back tomorrow night for a special bonus girls' night post with AMAZING shoes!

The Sincerest Form of Flattery

To answer the teaser from yesterday, what I wear for battle is chain mail and leopard.  Of course.
Chain mail necklace plus leopard dress =
Don't mess with me.
I didn't mean to make this face, but it cracks
me up.

I bought this dress in a fit of shameless plagiarism.  Every time Kasmira at What I Wore 2Day wears this dress, I do a search for it on ebay, and the last time she wore it I actually struck gold.  I found the identical dress in my size!  It may not be that cool to copy another blogger, but being cool has never really been my thing.  I love the animal print (of course) and the geometric embellishments.
I love this outfit and therefore these pics.
I haven't done the flamingo pose lately.

I'm trying to channel a little Game of Thrones "you win or you die" vibe today.  Obviously I'm planning on winning.  Things are going to be pretty intense from now through mid-June at work, so I'm getting my game face (which apparently is a Game of Thrones face) to get through it all.
Shoes and nails: love 'em.
Necklace and earrings: love 'em.

This isn't the first time I've copied drawn inspiration from What I Wore 2Day.  WIW2D also motivated me to try this dress that already lived in my closet in fun new ways like this one, this one, and this one.

Hello Puny Humans

Do you ever have one of those days where you just feel like the Incredible Hulk?  This is one of those days.  Very sexy.

I didn't sleep well and woke up late, but that was okay because I knew exactly what I wanted to wear. My outfit was inspired by Gracey at Fashion for Giants.  Actually, it was inspired by her shoes.  They are so lovely I actually looked online to see if I could find them in my size.  I couldn't.  I had to make do with what I do have- these oxfords. I continued the plagiarism with the color of the tights.

My first choice of outfit was a black sheath dress with a floral print.  It buttons up the back, which I love loved.  When I bent down to put my shoes on I popped two buttons off.  Hulk moment number one.  Arg.

My second choice was a black dress with a white lace band around the waist.  Very pretty.  I couldn't get it zipped.  Zipper broke.  Hulk moment number two.  Hulk getting angry.

My third choice was a grey sweater dress.  I pulled it on and the seam around the neck ripped open.  Hulk moment number three.  Rawrrrrrrr!

At this point I had the option to either laugh or cry, and I chose to laugh.  I was already wearing the turtleneck, tights and jewelry, so I decided to switch focus from dresses to skirts and I came up with this one that I haven't worn in a while.  It may not be my most inspired outfit, but I'm happy enough that I'm not going to turn green and terrorize the town.  That's probably a good thing.
You know it's not a great blogging day when I have my eyes closed in the best photo I got.

Turtleneck, White Stag, Walmart; skirt, George, Walmart; tights, Target; shoes, Graceland, Rack Room Shoes; earrings, handmade my me; necklace, Arts in the Heart.

Jumping for something.  Probably not joy.
Must be jumping for dorkiness.

Well, you can see most of my shoes in this one.
Anyway, this is one of those days when there is just not enough coffee in the world to make things go smoothly.  On the upside, my lovely and talented friend and coworker Chastity took my outfit photos today.  Usually I have to reset my camera timer between every shot.  That gets old quick.  We used work's camera so I could test out the differences to see if it's worth getting a similar one.  The only problem was that I was very self conscious in front of another person.  I was making stupid faces in every photo.  Seriously.  Oh well.  Next time I'll have her take my photos after work, and we can have a glass of wine.

In lovlier news, Stephen got me Game of Thrones Season One on BluRay for Valentine's Day.  So exciting.  Happy Wednesday.

My affirmation of the day from Louise Hay's The Present Moment: 365 Daily Affirmations is: I laugh at life (and at myself), and choose not to be offended by anyone or anything.

I've got laughing at myself down pat.  Next lesson.

Inspired

My favorite style blogger is Kasmira of What I Wore 2Day, so I was thrilled that I have the same Merona dress as she does.  I'm surprised it took me so long to plagiarize draw inspiration from her styling of it.

Navy print dress, Merona, Target; teal button down shirt, thrifted; tights, Walmart; navy polka dot flats, Dexter, Payless Shoes, chainmaille necklace and earrings, TrinketsByM, etsy; beaded bracelet, handmade and gifted (thanks Angie!); rose brooch, thrifted.

The earrings and necklace are a relatively new acquisition from the TrinketsByM etsy store.  I love the look of chainmaille jewelry.  I have asked Emily at TrinketsByM if she would be featured on this blog, so hopefully we'll be learning more about her soon.

Gadget and I have dog school tonight, so I suspect I will be the most over-dressed person there.  Maybe I'll have time to change.
