EBEW: Past, Present, & Future

Don't forget to comment on this post for a chance to win some of handmade jewelry, and use coupon code THANKSGIVING to get 25% off my Etsy items!  Today I'm serving up a triple dose of boots.

A couple weeks ago I broke the rules and wore leggings as pants.  I know.  I know.  Leggings are not pants.  In response to that post, one of my caring friends emailed to tell me I should invest in some skinny jeans.  Skinny jeans?

I know many of you wear and love skinny jeans, but I have avoided them for most of my life.  Skinny jeans have been a nemesis since the 1980s when, at approximately 5 years old, I decided I was far too fat to wear them.  The sad truth is that it wasn't until I steeped in self-hatred for a decade that I actually became overweight.  Silly brain.

Now I'm a grown-ass woman, and I'm not going to let some pants scare me.  If skinny jeans can solve my pants/boots dilemma, then I am willing to tango with them again.  What better day to take on this challenge than Everybody, Everywear: Boots.  I found this super skinny, super stretchy pair at Target.  I had two $5 gift cards, so I paid just $13.  I am willing to experiment at that price.

They work great with over-the-knee boots.  I love me some over-the-knee boots.

Once I had conquered skinny jeans with boots for EBEW, I decided I would aim a little higher.  Not only can I rock some boots, I can travel back in time to right the wrongs of my childhood.  I came up with this quick tribute outfit that I would have wanted to wear when I was a kid.

1988 called: they said don't bother sending this outfit back.  Suede jacket, thrifted; tube top, Walmart; skinny jeans, Target; pink space boots, ebay.

I found these wonderful boots on ebay and they had to be mine.  I call them my space boots.  Unfortunately there just aren't enough occasions to wear space boots.

With past and present locked down, only the future was left to conquer.  I immediately knew which boots would be boots of the future.  I call them my dystopian boots.

Suede jacket, thrifted; sequined tank, thrifted; skinny jeans, Target; grey boots, Rack Room Shoes.

Now I've banished my demons around skinny jeans, at least for the day.  What are your style phobias?  Which looks do you want to dare to try?

I used to have a phobia about skinny jeans too. Oh, and shawl collars. I just recently got over the shawl collar thing.
